Presidents Day. The final for the Presidents Day Competition at Knott End Bowling Club was held on Friday August 8th. The eventual winner was Dave Thornton (Pilling RR) when he overcame Martin Gale (Singleton A) 21-6 in the Final. In the semi-finals, Dave beat Dave Arnold (Elswick A) 21-12 and Martin beat Steve Edwards (Parkfield) in a thrilling game 21-20.
Overall, it was a fabulous day with the same lovely weather that has been present over most of the competition days. The green was in fantastic condition so well done to Knott End for your sterling efforts.
The Committee wishes to pass on our appreciation and thanks to our President Terry Andrews and Knott End Bowling Club for the markers and measurers on both Qualifying days and and also for the Final. They did a fabulous job as they have over all of the competitions. Also, thank you to all the ladies and Knott End Social Club that provided the catering, they did a fantastic job in keeping everyone fed and watered.
Lastly I would like to pass on my own thanks to all the clubs that made the effort to enter and send players to the competition because without you there wouldn;t be any competitions and it was a real pleasure to get to watch some outstanding bowling. I look forward to seeing you all next season.
